....has gone to live in the city.... today i met a cool young bloke named rob who has bought the machine xs and has taken her home.... he seemed like the kind of aussie bloke who would look after her but ride her hard too.

mark 1 exhaust.....

...did my head in a bit...i always hate how long the exhausts look when they follow the lower frame tube so the first system that i ran just bugged me...redone now and all tigged up....though not in this shot...this one i took yesterday.

hopefully i will start it up this week....

bought a new go pro camera ....the rose put me onto it and man they are good....

...makes for nice country road riding....i wont show you a shot of the 48....this was off the side that has a fender.....and still i love it...

changed the intermediate jet on the 48 again...still playing around ....getting it right...so crisp this motor.

ive never been one for high bars but ive had this ace pair for a while and just wanted to see...i think i like em.

48 bar mounts...

...so its the age old thing with springers....you need to keep that top clamp and mount attached which has pinch bolts but you need to be able to mount bars better than dogbones and all that excess stuff...so i had these old mounts around and turned them down as you can see with the one on the right...they will slide down into the fork tubes and sit flush or slightly over the top clamp...then i put a cut in each fork tube with the grinder so that the pinch bolt on the top clamp will also compress the fork tube slightly onto these turned down mounts...all interference fit mind you so pretty tight.

i had to widen the bars slightly but im thinking its gonna work just fine....i will leave the ears on the top clamp until i decide if thats the way ill stay with it...

ill post some picks of the finished product in a couple of days.

changes for my 48...

...on the way...new taillight and plate holder and bars....also after my long last ride i found she was running lean and just a bit too clean...so intermediate jet change too...i always think about bikes i have and updating them and changing bits.,,,trying new stuff...like the bars on the 48. Its not that i dont like the ones that are on it, i love them, they were off my 1926 norton when i got it, i had changed those for a set of bars i got with my 29 rudge. its just that ive been thinking about a slightly higher arm position, also i want to see what i come up with for mounting off a traditional top springer clamp.

for me...there is none better...

...i come home...tired...put it on and im somewhere good...
