....this bloke greated me when i got home today....he was at the door to the shed and just needed to say hello to me... i called my local bush expert Noel for some advice and he said "just give him a poke and he will say adios and catch ya later"... he didnt...instead he wanted to have a piece of me and told me to get the fuck out... i called the local council to see if there was a relocation expert around...they put me onto some other department who told me they might come out tomorrow and then when he wanted to come inside i had to put my foot down.....so to speak... the common brown snake.."pseudonaja textilis" ... venom..LD50=0.041 sq yield 2mgto the power of 5.....strong coagulant, neurotoxic, weakly haemolytic and cytotoxic...he measured 4 foot... in other words one bad mother farker that will kill you... guy bolton......what were you saying the other day????

50 PAN.....inlet manifold and carby....

.....one thing that...i wont say gives me the shits....but does annoy me is how my right knee hits the carb on my 48.....so i thought id try putting the carb on the left side of this bike and pushing it forward. i couldnt do it on the right side otherwise the inlet length would be too long. i cut, heated, bent and welded a standard s and s manifold to see if it would work...seems nice in the position now. i found a guy who can mandrel bend alloy tube the right size for me so i could do a much simpler version of this....and im thinking of doing a couple ...let me know if anyone is interested.

50 PAN PEGS.....

....found these pegs at joes motorcycles in canberra....i think they work well on this bike...thin and light.

50 PAN RATCHET TOP.....

...im gonna run the lever reversed on this bike to suit the mid controls so ive switched all the linkage around and remade the ratchet top setup....the lever ended up real short...should end end being a real quick little changer...

i been workin, workin, workin day an night...

....seems like lately i aint got time to scratch....stuff in the workshop is coming along but nothing really to show for it....busy doin stuff on the property and building....i love livin in the country....this is a shot down the back block...a beautiful place to be when the black cockatoos are flying around.....and the mist is rising up through the valley...

50 PAN...

......had in mind to put a faring on the 50 pan.....but always thought it would be hand beaten not a bought one.........never really did it by hand like this before but anyway its slowly getting there .... thanks to my mate dave.s. who lent me a perfect dolly and some beautiful hand made hardwood hammers....

HEROS PART 2....

....here's one....the first time i saw a photo of a bike built by shinya i sat wide eyed....mouth open.... wondering who could have created such a beautiful thing....im still in awe of everything he does....this little video...(thanks whoever took it....i found it via the le container blog)...shows this knuck perfectly...i watch it over and over looking at the alloy work and wishing i could visit him and ayu...maybe one day....

HEROS.....

...i dont have many....but ken, a bloke i met this morning...a true aussie bloke rode through town on his Norvin....my dream bike....my ultimate bike....a wideline featherbedded, vincent motored, fontana 4 leadered, alloy rimmed, machine. ken, it was a pleasure to meet you....i wish i had had more time to talk....he built this bike in 78 and has ridden it every day since.....totally fucken cool.

WORKSHOP STUFF....

.....ive got a few other things that i do in my life...and i always thought with this blog i would only ever post things related directly to bikes....but ive made a decision that i will post anything related to the workshop...so heres one for today....some work to one of my mates machines...used an old fuel tap handle that i had around from one of the nortons....hope you like it mate....

.....ok.... now i know why people like brandon at mullins chain drive and hwzn bross are making their own kickers ...cause the alternatives suck.... i just got a pedal delivered and why would the shaft be 10.95mm and the hole 12.78mm????....your joking!!!...why is this?

MORNING RUN.....

....took the 48 for a great run yesterday morning...sort of a new years eve thing but not at night.....hey t, i always see you taking those midnight runs....i cant do that here cause ive got too many kangaroos that want to mash me.....early morning will have to do....it was so cool and overcast....nice and clear with no fog....

....clutch...installed a big fix kit on my 48 and it was one of the best things i did on that bike,...the clutch used to drag somethin shocking before and it made it one of the best clutches i have ever had...so i decided to install one on the 50 also...

THE GUZ....

....what a beautiful simple straight frame.

im kicking myself....

.....cause on the highway about 10 kms out of town is this massive crazy rock on the side of the road....im talking as big as a small truck... its covered in thousands of layers of paint cause people are always painting stuff on it like HAPPY 18th CHOKO and I LOVE DANNI.... but the reason im pissed is because for the last three years....but not this year....the message written on it has been MERRY XMAS FUCKERS i should have taken a photo when i had the chance.... so funny to know that every family driving to the coast got to see it and have a laugh. so...with respect........... MERRY XMAS FUCKERS

50 PAN AXLE

....i think i can get it to fit....but its a shitload of work...this brake plate is spaced by an axle step ...meaning it doesnt fit up to the crush spacer....so no matter what im going to have to sleave and rethread this axle on the nut side...
