of final primer coats and some paint on mikes tins til i dropped my gun and smashed the paint bowl.  its ok its only 100kms to the paint shop.

this sculpture was built by tony phantastes of Canberra between 1992 and 1997 and was intended to be part of a larger series going back across Collector creek. Its been called many names Dreamer's Gate, Homage to My Father, Homage to the Landscape....i remember the first time i saw it i thought...."jesus, someone's building a Gaudi lookalike in the bush"

looking forward to the paint on the 45 tins....tanks have had a couple coats of primer and sand, the fender is under first primer ready for some fine sanding.

i love this part. in 1984 i asked my parents if i could leave school to become an auto spray painter. id painted maybe 15 cars by the time i was 15 and i loved it. my mum freaked out, my dad got mad cause id upset mum and i shut my mouth and went to school and read street machine during class. i was serious, i wanted to ditch school and learn a trade. i wonder if i would have been here now had i done that.

sunday ride....

.....had a little bit of a change to my life this weekend....for the first time in about 4 years i didn't have to work on sunday.....so rain (yes) hail or shine (no) i hit the road....

from three different directions we all met in one spot...about 200 clicks from where i live.....i left the wet gear a little late to get on but the fire place at the pub dried us out soon enough...STKen on his Road King and HCMFJoe on the 8 valve....

the mark 1 went like it always does, faultless high speed cruising.....backed those ikon shocks off a notch too....much better.....its gonna be hard to let that bike go....but its ebay time this week....keep an eye out if your interested...

one of my earliest memories was thinking i was so rad sitting in my grandparents house on my holidays listening to my auntys records....two of which were machine head and burn......this is like 1976 or so...

machine head made a huge impact on me....it was one of the reasons why i named machine ....machine.

the first t shirt i had a mate help me with a long time ago was this.....maybe i need to do that shirt properly now....

....spending a good part of today shutting up mikes tanks.... sometimes i just want to leave welds alone...but then the panelbeater takes over in me and the files come out......either way its one of the funnest parts...

i added this rib over where i had previously cut and shut the fender......and i left plenty of meat so i can get it the right shape.....

...in the name of keeping the man happy...no more low mounted plates

mike made a mini led strip that will go under the section i made, to illuminate the plate......ill still mount the tail light/brakelight on the left side / low.....

spent the last couple of days on mikes wl....finally got the seating arrangements organised....

you cant really see from these shots...i cant get lower to take a shot cause of other shit in the way but the line came out exactly as i wanted....

im going to put a rib down that fender after the pad to connect it visually with the new number plate bracket..

so for the last two days thats what i did.....big ride yesterday, met up with some mates down in the valley....some old and a couple of new ones (Larry and his great wife on their shovel...hes 52 and shes 58 ...they just rode this shov to melbourne and back).....then for a beer or two and a steak sandwich...then headed down the coast for a night in the bay...

 beautiful suspension bridge in the kangaroo valley.

then today i rode home sort of a long way ive never ridden before...hard going cause the wind was totally extreme and i was freezing my nuts off...fuck it was cold....good times, but sometimes i ask myself the question.....(do i really need to be this cold?)
