last night.....

....i got to meet up with all my friends in sydney and show them the 50...it was a fantastic night....thanks to greg and pierre at the deus cafe for allowing me to have a little thing in their space and for being so accommodating....i hope we didnt cause too many problems....thanks to dare, ben and carby for all the support...thanks to my bestest of mates for all coming along...damo, joycy, emile, luke, rose, johnny, jordy, karl, paul, tony, fadi...and to all the girls...thanks especially tash and maz i know you had to rush from work to get there... young paul who i met last night and your mate....good to meet you....im sure we will talk again soon. thanks to joe...your unwavering friendship, support, and unquestioning faith in me astounding...i hope this bike is all you wanted and more.. lastly, but most importantly, my wife sophie, for putting up with my totally obsessive crazyness for motorcycles .... i am thankful everyday that i have such a beautiful, amazing, person who can put up with me.

1950 panhead...

...im pretty excited about taking the 50 up to sydney tomorrow to deliver it to my mate joe...i put a lot of work into it.....thought about it a lot.... and hopefully took what i learnt on the 48 to the next level of resolution...its going to come back soon though....i know the clutch needs a tweak and im thinking about a new dizzy as well...and i want to take some nice photos of it here at the shed...(t can you come and take them?) ..tomorrow night...im getting together with my closest friends to show them the bike...i hope they like it...ive always tried to not give a fuck about what other people think about what i do.. but really, deep down inside, i love it when they love it.

in the shed....

...took the afternoon to clean the shed...the pan is finished and ive ridden it a few times over the last two days...it rides beautifully...the narrowglide does wonders...thursday is delivery to the owner, my very close friend joe....he hasnt seen it at all so im sure he will have a nice afternoon that day... in the meantime the model 18 gets some attention...the rebuilt maggy to go back on and some final things before it goes to its new home up north....it will be missed here ..its such a beautiful bike...so many details added and altered over its long life to make it handle better and go faster.... next week im gonna turn my attention to finishing the mark 1 le mans and starting on mikes wl build....

...i dont know the man that built this bike..his name is caleb..if your into beautifully built bikes you should check this out...those details take time..in the head and on the lathe and on the mill...and with the welder...and filing... i love this bike...thats how to makeover a sporty.

....watch the gearbox filler nut...its better to watch it on youtube....i cant work out how to make the whole clip fit on the blog screen...always seem to miss a third of the frame.....anyone?....t??....FIXED!

....to being done...i cant wait...im spending every spare minute on it to try and have it ready for the rat day in sydney...hope the start up goes well.

...i cannot describe in words, really, how i feel when i look at this motorcycle...i can only imagine how fantastic it would be to see this bike in the flesh, and hear it run, ...and what must it be like to ride!...jeff decker's crocker has always been one of my favourites but this black lightning is pure and simple the most beautiful custom bike i have ever seen....i cannot comprehend the stippedbackedness of this machine...and i cannot help but be inspired and motivated by such clarity of execution....there!...i said it...check his blog in the list.

50 panhead getting close....

...ive been going super hard on the panhead over the last few weeks....im pretty happy with the way shes come together....ive put in some seriously hard yards on this one...doing and redoing cause i wasnt happy....im hoping to have a night up in sydney in the next three or four weeks to celebrate a bit and show her off...also..ive stopped showing her owner any photos of progress....after 15 years as my mate i hope he understands shes just got to be a surprise for him on the night...

....im starting to feel happy with the direction for the rear of the guzzi....ive repositioned the rear seat mounts forward and prepared a tank / seat bracket...i will finish off this base then build a simpler version with a whole other light assembly so i can quickly swap when im taking my wife for a ride....

50 pan.....

...picked up the pan today from getting wired up....usually my mate matt in sydney does all my wiring work but this young kid who works in town really wanted to get involved and have a go at wiring it up....he did a fantastic job.....so very neat and everything where it should be.....gotta get it back together now and start her up....still got paint to do but i just need a good couple of days to get that finished up...

...recently i got sick of saying one day...after hitting the big 4...0... i reckon its time for some serious life alterations including more time to spend enjoying myself...gotta rid myself of a couple of chains in the next couple of months... took a quick walk down the back and spotted this little fella watching me...i was lookin back at him to see him lookin back at me. mr black wallaby

....i thought id try and work a fibreglass norvil commando seat base for the guzz but when my mate angelo came in and saw it he told me it looked like shit....(it did look a bit droopy).... so i had to start again and make one up from alloy.....heres how it looks now.....i hate the way some guys cut the rear frame tubes off at the shock mounts so i made the decision to just shorten them and keep the original rear seat mount points for the new seat. hopefully i can start tacking it together on monday morning...the idea is to have a zip on the rear seat upholstery (ss ducaati style) and have a tool box spot inside....
