he's a bit older than me but when we are together having a glass of wine or a bottle, we talk the same language, loud, and at each other.
he's a lot smarter than me but thats ok,...cause i'm more handsome.
we talk about bikes and jazz and life and he's always wise.
one day we will ride very fast on our very old bikes together...hopefully soon mate.
today he gave me a present and its just perfect for me...it was given to him by someone and he passed it on today...he's never ridden with it cause his head is too big..mine is like a pin so it fits me like a glove.
its got this little cross hand painted on it and a little story came up while we were talking about the lid today and its something like this..
"a very well known racer in the days past knowing that his time could soon be up, decided that because he had such a rare blood type, he would write it on his helmet so that in the event he had a bad off, the people treating him would know what blood they should give him immediately. so the night before this big race he sat down to paint in red on his silver helmet his blood type but just as he started to paint he remembered a split locking pin he had left off his manx norton while he was race prepping it that afternoon....fearing he would forget that pin in the morning he went directly to his machineshed and put the pin in. he walked out of the shed and decided to take the dog for a quick walk. when he came home he poured another glass of wine and fell asleep in his chair listening to the radio.
in the morning the racer grabbed his helmet, loaded his bike, and took off for a hard days racing.
the painting on the helmet never got finished, the racer died that day on his norton and his helmet got passed from man to man to man"
thanks bruce. you made my day mate.
